Brett was a happy-go-lucky lad that loved life to the max, he was very well known and very popular. He was very pristine with himself, caring, funny and most of all a pleasure to be around.
At 18 Brett decided he wanted to do something with his life and joined the Royal Navy.
Brett travelled all over and trained as a paramedic and got posted over to Kosovo for 6 months.
On Bretts return, he found it difficult to deal with situations that had faced him in Kosovo and found solance in drinking. Brett left the Navy and sunk further into depression.
In a bid to help himself, Brett appeared on the Jeremy Kyle Show after seeing a success story on there similar to his own addiction, unfortunately Brett had gone beyond help and could no longer see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Despite his loving families best efforts, Brett couldn't find the strength to fight the demons and lost his fight alcohol, surrounded by his heartbroken family, in July 2007 after only drinking for 4 years.

Brett is loved, missed, cherished and talked about everyday. He wasnt just a Son, Brother, Cousin or Uncle but a great friend to everybody that knew him. He leaves behind his heartbroken Mum that misses and sheds a tear for him everyday.
But we know he is in Heaven looking down on us all.... So tonight, look for the brightest star and say hello to *'Our Brett'*

Well 4 years has passed since you went to live in Heaven and Brett you are remembered,missed and loved everyday.They say time is a healer but that cant be true I think we just have to accept things that happen.Since you left things have changed so much and I have changed as a person but I will always be proud of being your mum.Siobhan has had a baby who has just had his first birthday,his name is Riley-James Brett and he is beautiful and such a happy chappie,just like you were.Tony is happy in America but I miss him so much.We will raise a glass to you tonight and just hope you are happy.My heart will always have that unmistakable pain until we meet again,Love you Son from you Very Sad Mum xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

A GOLDEN CANDLE
This poem is all about a golden candle
It's flames flicker oh so bright
And keep burning well until morning light
I light it at night..
And first thing at dawn
This Golden candle is in loving memory of you..
To remember when you were born
For my love i remember it all you see
And this candle will burn bright for eternity
The flames will burn bright
With such warmth and glow
Why God took you my love we will never know
If the wind blows the candle out
Remember my loved one..
Just give me a shout
